[CRYOLIST] AGU2020 Session – Observations and Models of Glacier Change

Hi Cryolist,

Please consider submitting an abstract to the AGU session Observations and Models of Glacier Change. Abstracts due 29 July 2020.

https://agu.confex.com/agu/fm20/prelim.cgi/Session/102154

Session Description:
As glaciers respond to environmental forcing, they reveal clues as to the physics that govern their response, change rates of sea level rise, alter geohazard risk, and modify downstream ecosystems and water availability. There has been a recent explosion of data and methods for monitoring glaciers from space that is only accelerating with the launch of NASA's second-generation laser altimeter (ICESat-2) and gravity (GRACE-FO) missions. At the same time we are witnessing rapid advances in the use of machine learning, stereo processing, and modeling of regional climate and glacier response. In support of the IACS Working Groups on "Regional Assessments of Glacier MAss Change (RAGMAC)" and "Randolph Glacier Inventory (RGI) and its role in future glacier monitoring and GLIMS", this session brings together in-situ, remote sensing and modeling studies of glacier change outside of the ice sheets, from regional to global scales, that promote understanding of physical processes.

Looking forward to reading your abstract submissions and seeing you at the virtual AGU.

Best regards,
