Dear colleagues!
We are happy to invite you to submit your abstract for the AGU to session GC063: Quantification of the Anthropocene at the AGU Fall Meeting 2020! The session aims at detecting, quantifying and attributing human-induced environmental change and welcomes also method development.
See details below:
Session name: Quantification of the Anthropocene
Conveners: Ted Amdur (Harvard University), Sol Kim (UC Berkeley), Laura Rasmussen (University of Copenhagen)
Confirmed invited speakers: Dr. Karen McKinnon (UCLA)
Session ID: 105648
Section: Global Environmental Change (GC063)
Session description:
The influence of anthropogenic climate change on specific phenomena can now be quantified. Developments in the science of detection and attribution studies, particularly related to extreme weather events, allow us to reveal this influence with varying degrees of confidence. As the number and intensity of extreme weather events increases, the ability to quantify anthropogenic attribution to observed changes is as important as ever in order to understand our natural systems and the possible future better.
Human activities influence the natural environment on scales from global and regional to landscape, watershed or field scale, and the effects are seen in many scientific disciplines. We welcome contributions that seek to understand, quantify and/or improve detection and attribution of environmental change. We encourage studies from a range of scientific disciplines that further our understanding of the methods and approaches that drive the quantification of the Anthropocene.
Submissions are open until 29th of July:
