[CRYOLIST] AGU session: Atmospheric Gases and Isotopes as Passive Tracers of Climatic Processes

Dear colleagues,

We would like to invite you to submit your abstract for the AGU fall meeting 2020 session GC015 - Atmospheric Gases and Isotopes as Passive Tracers of Climatic Processes. We welcome contributions from scientists with an interest in passive gas tracers of global-scale climate processes and are looking forward to showcasing the great diversity of people, backgrounds, and ongoing research in the field.

Submit here until 29th of July: https://agu.confex.com/agu/fm20/prelim.cgi/Session/102396
Invited speakers: Dr. Shigeyuki Ishidoya (AIST, Japan) and Michael Dyonisius (University of Rochester, USA)

Session description: This session seeks to bring together a broad community of experimentalists and modelers who share the common approach of using gases including (but not limited to) noble gases, nitrogen, oxygen, SF6, or halocarbons as passive indicators of large scale-natural or anthropogenic phenomena. For example, deviations from modern tropospheric composition in non-tropospheric gas reservoirs such as stratospheric air, ice cores, or dissolved gases in seawater and groundwater provide quantitative constraints for models of gas exchange, physical transport, or biogeochemical processes with global implications. In a complementary sense, repartitioning of gases between major reservoirs over time leads to temporal variations in the well mixed troposphere. Measurements and models of these variations can inform our understanding of, e.g., ocean-atmosphere interaction, stratosphere-troposphere exchange, or anthropogenic emissions. We welcome submissions presenting novel approaches using passive gas tracers to constrain large-scale processes operating over a wide range of temporal scales.
