[CRYOLIST] AGU Fall Meeting - Coastal cliff and bluff morphodynamics

Dear Colleagues,

We are excited to announce an AGU Fall Meeting (Dec. 7-11, 2020) session on Coastal Cliff and Bluff Morphodynamics. We welcome contributions from a variety of environments and geographies (including permafrost cliffs and bluffs, rocky coasts, bluffed coasts, etc.) that include field observations, modelling, emerging monitoring techniques, physical experiments, and interdisciplinary research linking coastal cliffs and bluffs morphodynamics with oceanography, geology, biology, ecology, and social science.

The deadline for abstract submissions is Wednesday, 29 July at 23:59 Eastern Daylight Time (EDT).

Please note that since AGU will be mostly virtual this year the registration fee will be about 50% less than the in-person rate.

Session Title: Coastal Cliff and Bluff Morphodynamics

Session ID: 102704

Session Description:

Rocky and bluffed coasts include soft glacial outwash bluffs of Puget Sound and the U.S. Great Lakes, permafrost bluffs ringing the Arctic Ocean, elevated marine terraces formed by tectonic uplift such as in central California, Papua New Guinea and Barbados, and hard rock coasts characterized by shore platforms that are common along coastlines worldwide. Coastal cliffs change in response to some combination of marine and terrestrial forcing across multiple space and time scales. There is a growing need for increased knowledge of processes driving change along rocky and bluffed coasts and predictive models for investigating potential response to various climate change scenarios. The 2020 Coastal Cliff and Bluff session welcomes contributions from field observations, modelling, emerging monitoring techniques, physical experiments, and interdisciplinary research linking coastal cliffs and bluffs morphodynamics with oceanography, geology, biology, ecology, and social science. Contributions are encouraged from a range of studies and environments.

We look forward to receiving your abstract.
