[CRYOLIST] Postdoc/research associate position: long term history of the British-Irish Ice Sheet

Dear colleagues,

We are looking to hire a full time post-doctoral research associate to work on a 12-month research project awarded by UKRI-NERC to Ulster and Durham Universities. The aim of the project is to identify drilling sites for an IODP (International Ocean Discovery Programme) proposal focused on the reconstruction of the inception, growth and decay of the British-Irish Ice Sheet (BIIS) during the Cenozoic. The post-doctoral researcher will utilise the extensive suite of geophysical and geological datasets already available in UK and Irish waters for the selection of specific drill sites for each selected target area. This project will provide the PDRA with an outstanding opportunity to extend their scientific and technical knowledge, take charge of day-to-day work on geophysical datasets and planning, and develop their ability to work as part of a scientific team.

Applicants should have, or be in the final stages of completing, a PhD in Geology, Geophysics or any closely related fields, with proven experience in seismic interpretation and depositional systems on continental margins. Knowledge of seismic interpretation software such as Kingdom or Petrel is an asset.
