The IGS is creating a new Membership Committee that we intend to staff with a group of scientists that includes all career stages and is representative of the diversity within the IGS community.
Appointments will be for 3 years. We anticipate that committee members will be involved in (1) recruitment and retention of members, with the aim of increasing diversity (2) implementation of the Diversity and Inclusion plan as approved by the IGS Council, and (3) communication between IGS membership and IGS governing bodies. We hope to fill the committee slots soon so that we can dive into our work this (northern hemisphere) fall. However, to give potential volunteers time to consider getting involved and encourage diverse representation, we will wait until early September before responding to everyone who completes the form.
