Dear cryolisters,
You are invited to send suggestions of International Glaciological Society (IGS) members that you think that the Nominations Committee should consider for the 2022 slate of Council member replacements. Please provide your suggestions by 4 September, 2022 (by email to the Nominations Committee chair, Francisco Navarro, francisco.navarro@upm.es, with a copy to the IGS Secretary General magnus@igsoc.org).
Each year, the International Glaciological Society (IGS) renews its governing body of officers and Council members by a nomination and election process outlined in the IGS constitution (https://www.igsoc.org/about/constitution). In 2022, 3 members of the IGS Council must be replaced.
The IGS membership at large is invited to nominate replacements and an election will be held at the IGS Annual General Meeting (to be held later in the year) if there are more than the required nominations.
As part of the nomination process, a Nominations Committee also proposes nominations as a "slate" to replace all retiring positions. This is to ensure that there will always be sufficient candidates. This committee will soon deliberate on who should be proposed on this slate, and this is why we are asking you to make suggestions.
Keep in mind that the nomination committee, officers and Council of the IGS are always cognizant of ensuring that the governance of the IGS is both diverse and representative.
With best wishes,Francisco Navarro
Chair, Nominations Committee of the IGS
