[CRYOLIST] WGMS UK national correspondent

Dear All,

The World Glacier Monitoring Service (WGMS) are seeking a National Correspondent for the UK.

The main tasks of the national correspondent are to:

- coordinate and represent the glacier monitoring of the UK. This includes data collected in other regions (e.g. the Alps or the Himalaya) by UK researchers and the main focus is on glacier fluctuations. It is anticipated (but not necessary) that the correspondent would attend the forthcoming General Assembly of National Correspondents (to be held in Zurich in 2019). These assemblies are held once every 10 years.

- be the central communication node for their countries for the WGMS staff.

- be responsible for the annual data collection (https://wgms.ch/data_submission/) within the UK and its submission to WGMS for publication in the 'Global Glacier Change Bulletin' series.

In order to set up the National Correspondent, we need a nomination from the glacier research & monitoring community. The nominated person should have a good overview of the glacier activities in the UK country and be familiar with the WGMS system.

In case of further questions, please contact the WGMS (wgms@geo.uzh.ch).

Many thanks,

Rachel
