[CRYOLIST] Permanent position at LIAG, Germany: Drone Geophysics

The LEIBNIZ INSTITUTE FOR APPLIED GEOPHYSICS (LIAG) seeks for a permanent

Research Associate

with 100% of the working time in the field of drone based Geophysics.
Job advertisement G 05/22, Keyword: „ DroneGeophysics“
The Leibniz Institute for Applied Geophysics (LIAG) is recognised worldwide in both methodological and applied geophysical research. LIAG is looking for an outstanding sci-entific personality establishing and leading the working group on drone-supported geo-physical methods (drone-based geophysics). A special focus of the working group will be on active electromagnetic methods. The research group is strongly associated with groundwater-related research questions, but offers links to the research area of geohaz-ards. Drone-based geophysics is intended to close the spatial gap between ground-based and airborne geophysics.
For this task, the LIAG offers an extraordinary instrumental equipment of different elec-tromagnetic methods including a drone for the acquisition of electro-magnetic fields for semi-airborne CSEM (controlled-source electromagnetics) measurements. The LIAG of-fers extensive opportunities for personal development and the independent design of one's own scientific research, an exceptionally active and inspiring scientific environment and excellent networking in the international research landscape.
LIAG expects proven expertise in electromagnetic methods (low-frequency EM to geora-dar) or the development of drone-based measurement methods, documented in publica-tions. In particular, a promising further development of the research area through the ac-quisition of third-party funding is expected.
Requirements

ï‚· Scientific university degree (Master's degree or equivalent) in geophysics, physics or electrical engineering or comparable subject.

ï‚· PhD degree

ï‚· Experience in the development of geophysical methods in the field of electromagnetic induction or wave techniques or development of drone-based measurement technolo-gy

ï‚· Motivation to build up and lead the drone-geophysics working group

ï‚· Outstanding publication record and international network

ï‚· Knowledge in the acquisition of third-party funding

ï‚· Experience in working in national and international teams

ï‚· Willingness to spend several days on DR at home and abroad

Ideally, you also meet the following requirements:

ï‚· Programming experience (e.g. Python, Matlab, C++)

ï‚· Experience in processing or inversion of geophysical data

ï‚· Experience in the field of applied geophysics

ï‚· Knowledge in sensor technology, remote data transmission, digital signal recording and processing

ï‚· Knowledge in quaternary geology, hydrogeology, soil science
