Re: [CRYOLIST] HD video camera for not-so-comfy field science

Get yourself a Nikon D800, best camera out there and will give you tons of
options for other work, like photogrammetry etc. -Matt

Subject: [CRYOLIST] HD video camera for not-so-comfy field science

Dear cryolist.

I am looking for a good, semi-professional HD camera to take videos out
in the field.
I have been doing most of my work with a tiny GOPRO2, which still serves
me good.
However, GOPRO batteries are not so good in the cold, the fish-eye makes
things look funny and you can not zoom.

Durable batteries, ruggedness, adaptability, capability to zoom are
desirable qualities.

I wonder if people in the cryolist community can provide me with some
suggestions based on their experiences with cameras.
I will compile the answers in a document. Shoot me a message if you'd
like to receive it.

I look forward to hear from you.
All the best.
