[CRYOLIST] Tenured positions in paleoclimate/glaciology/remote sensing of ice sheets

The University of Tasmania (UTAS), Australia, is currently advertising up to 20 tenured positions in any subject area. Paleoclimate reconstruction, glaciology, ice sheet modelling and remote sensing of ice sheets have been identified as areas of particular need.

UTAS are looking to appoint candidates that complement existing UTAS strengths, address areas of UTAS need and have demonstrated research excellence in their field. As such, interested applicants are expected to have a very strong track record in publication, generation of research income and supervision of PhD students.

Appointments are typically being made at the Full/Associate Professor levels. Using a crude metric, applicants with an h-index of 25+, or rapidly approaching that, are likely to have their application discussed further.

The five research themes of UTAS include Marine, Maritime and Antarctic research and the University is investing heavily in developing the Institute for Marine and Antarctic Studies (IMAS) with its new building opened this month on Hobart’s waterfront. The University’s main campus in Hobart is co-located with world-leading ice core and sea level groups, amongst others, within the Australian Antarctic Division, CSIRO Marine & Atmospheric Research and Antarctic Climate and Ecosystems Cooperative Research Centre (a joint venture between UTAS, AAD and CSIRO).

Highly qualified applicants should contact Prof Matt King (Matt.King@utas.edu.au) or Prof Richard Coleman (Richard.Coleman@utas.edu.au) in the first instance, attaching a CV. The positions will only remain open until they are all filled.

Kind Regards,

Matt King
