of Jérémie Mouginot on Wednesday 28 September.
Jérémie joined IGE in 2017 and was a brilliant and very enthusiastic
colleague, and a great friend to many of us. His departure leaves an
enormous void and we are devastated.
Many of you have certainly had the pleasure of meeting and talking with
him at conferences or on the field. Jérémie did his PhD at LPG
(Grenoble) on the processing and analysis of data from the Mars Advanced
Radar for Subsurface and Ionosphere Sounding. Then, he joined the
University of California Irvine for about 10 years where he used his
expertise in remote sensing to study the mass balance of polar
ice-sheets. He made major contributions to revealing the surface
velocities of the Greenland and Antarctic ice sheets, in particular
through the use of InSAR data.
His studies produced key novel insights into our understanding of
ongoing glaciers and ice-sheet changes and their contributions to sea
level rise.
Our thoughts are with his family and friends.
If you wish to express a message to them or post a tribute, you can do
so on this link https://padlet.com/IGE_Grenoble/kwfz0om49a4y28sf or send
it to us and we will pass it on.
Best regards
