[CRYOLIST] EGU 2015 GM 2.1: Do you have a vision for understanding Earth processes from DEMs? We're also looking for perspectives [2 mins talk + PICO discussion]

Dear All,
Apologies for cross posting.  We are looking to innovative research submissions to the EGU session GM 2.1 about surface processes, including all cryosphere-related ones!
We are also collecting visions for the future of Geomorphology or DEM use, at any scale, as well as possibilities (e.g. repeat surveys, real-time) or problems (e.g. awkward case studies)....

We already have speakers ready to share their vision, identifying key potential routes, and finding like minds across disciplines in perspectives talks about surfaces processes 3d imaging at multiple scales, process connectivity, wavelets, space science, and one from Google.

We are also looking to hear about solutions and interesting geomorphic uses of DEM from glacial processes, ice, snow, from active ice/cold regions to palaeo-glaciology. What is your passion? Your idea that you need to find a key partner for, but don't know who to ask?

With sufficient outstanding abstracts, we envisage the collection of high-quality articles in a special issue in the EGU journal Earth Surface Dynamics.

If you think you could be a perspective speaker, or if you have any question, please contact us through this email (a brief description will be fine!).

we are looking forward to recieve your abstracts! deadline is 07 January 2015, 13:00 CET

GM2.1 "Frontiers in Geomorphometry and Earth Surface Dynamics: Possibilities, Limitations and Perspectives"

This session is inter-disciplinary with a focus on new techniques in digital terrain production and analysis independent of the subject, and/or field. Any insights are welcome but a clear, if perhaps embryonic or potential, link to a process sculpting the Earth’s surface is preferred.
The session’s aim is to foster collaboration and sharing of ideas across subject-boundaries, between technique developers and users, enabling us as a community to fully exploit the wealth of knowledge inherent in our digital landscape. We wholeheartedly welcome contributions from any discipline which touches on geomorphometry, including but not exclusive to geomorphology (e.g., tectonic/volcanic/climatic/glacial), planetary science, archaeology, geo-biology, natural hazards, computer science. We actively encourage contributors to present work “in development”, as well as established techniques being used in a novel way. Young researchers are an essential part of driving innovation in our community and are strongly encouraged to present their work.

Perhaps unusually, we seek presentations highlighting current limitations within your field and perspectives on where progress is needed. Just remember, lurking in another speciality, the solution may be out there!

With sufficient abstracts we envisage fully exploiting PICO to create a "whole-day" focus at the PICO spot including invited expert views on frontiers in their field, associated short-courses, and lunch meeting with all PICOs available for discussion.
