Dear Colleagues,
The Climate and Cryosphere (CliC) Project is pleased to announce the webcasting of the International Antarctic Ice Rises workshop being held next week, 26-29 August in Tromsø, Norway. For more information on how to join and the most recent agenda, please visit http://www.climate-cryosphere.org/meetings/ice-rises-2013/agenda . If you are thinking about joining, even for part of the meeting, please send an email to Jenny Baeseman (jbaeseman@gmail.com) letting her know you would like to join.
The workshop has 8 oral science sessions and 2 outreach sessions. Discussion will follow 1-3 invited talks for each topic. Session themes are (1) satellite remote sensing, (2) ice rise glaciology and geology, (3) ice rise glaciology modeling, (4) surface mass balance and local climatology, (5) postglacial rebound, (6) ice shelves, rumples, and ocean, and (7) paleoclimate and ice cores. The agenda is available at the workshop web site: http://www.climate-cryosphere.org/meetings/ice-rises-2013/agenda
The workshop is sponsored by the Scientific Committee on Antarctic Research (SCAR), the WCRP/CliC Project, the Association of Polar Early Career Scientists (APECS), the Research Council of Norway, the British Antarctic Survey and the Norwegian Polar Institute's Centre for Ice, Climate and Ecosystems.
We will be webcasting using GoToMeeting, and participation is limited to 25 people at a time (if demand is higher, we will open up more spots). If you have not used GoToMeeting (www.gotomeeting.com) previously, you should plan to log in a few minutes early to download a small plug-in and test your sound if you want to ask questions directly. You also have the ability to type questions/comments to the speaker into the software if you would like. To join the meeting at the beginning or when in progress, simply click on the link below for the day you are planning to attend. Remember to mute your audio if you are not speaking (click on the little green microphone to turn your microphone on and off).
