[CRYOLIST] Continent-wide InSAR phase-based Antarctica-wide Ice velocity map with unparalleled precision now available for download from NSIDC

Dear colleagues,

A new Earth Science Data Record, a continent-wide, InSAR phase-based map
with unparalleled precision, generated at the Department of Earth System
Science at the University of California, Irvine, is now available for
download at NSIDC:

MEaSUREs Phase-Based Antarctica Ice Velocity Map, Version 1
https://doi.org/10.5067/PZ3NJ5RXRH10

This data set combines interferometric phases from multiple satellite
interferometric synthetic-aperture radar systems to provide the first
comprehensive phase-based map of Antarctic ice velocity. The precision
in ice speed and flow direction over 80% of Antarctica is improved
compared to prior mappings based on feature and speckle tracking by a
factor of 10. Phase-derived velocity covers the time period 2007 - 2018,
while tracking-derived velocity along the coast is for the time period
2013 - 2017, with additional data to maximize coverage from 1996 and
2018. The velocity product comprises velocity (speed + direction),
speed, direction, error in speed, error in flow direction, vx, vy, error
in vx, error in vy. This work was funded by a grant from NASA's Making
Earth System Data Records for Use in Research Environments (MEaSUREs)
Program.

Please acknowledge the use of this digital product according to NSIDC
request as well as by referencing this publication.

Spaceborne SAR acquisitions were provided through data grants from the
following agencies:
ALOS PALSAR, ALOS-2 PALSAR-2: Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA)
ENVISAT ASAR, ERS-1, ERS-2: European Space Agency (ESA)
RADARSAT, RADARSAT-2: Canadian Space Agency (CSA)
TerraSAR-X, TanDEM-X: German Space Agency (DLR)
Contains modified Copernicus Sentinel-1 data (2014-2018) to add to
coastal tracking results

Data acquisitions since 2006 are coordinated courtesy of the Polar Space
Task Group.
A TanDEM-X high resolution DEM of Antarctica was provided by the German
Space Agency (DLR)
Landsat-8 data (to add to coastal tracking results) are provided by USGS

With kind regards,

The project team
