[CRYOLIST] AGU Fall Meeting 2019: C014 - Geological Signatures of Ice Shelves Past and Present

Dear colleagues,

Another AGU reminder, but please consider submitting abstracts to our session at Fall Meeting 2019:

C014 - Geological Signatures of Ice Shelves Past and Present

"Floating ice shelves restrain the upstream flow of continental ice and, thus, changes within them can lead to glacier acceleration with direct impacts on global sea level. However, the signatures of ice shelves, including possible past collapses, are complex. As a consequence, their role in influencing past ice-sheet dynamics is often poorly resolved. Similarly, present-day geological environments and ice-ocean processes near to ice shelves remain difficult to characterise especially in inaccessible sub-ice shelf settings. We welcome submissions exploiting observational, modelling, or theoretical methods to study the signatures, processes, and dynamics of ice shelves past and present. Topics may include: sedimentary and/or geomorphic proxies for ice-shelf geometries and configurations; ice-ocean and geological processes operating at and under ice shelves; reconstructions of ice-shelf changes; studies of sub-ice shelf bathymetry; and studies exploring the rates and processes of ice-shelf collapse including links to and debates surrounding the role of marine ice-cliff instability."

We hope to attract a diverse range of work that will showcase current understanding of ice-shelf systems from an Earth Science perspective. Still plenty of time to get those abstracts written.

We look forward to seeing your contributions.
