This is a reminder of the 3rd Annual Chilean Cryosphere Society (SOCHICRI)
meeting to be held in Concepcion, Chile. SOCHICRI invites researchers,
professionals and students from Chile and abroad to participate in the
annual meeting for 2020. This will be held in Concepcion between the 7 - 9 October,
2020* and will be organised by the Geography and
Geophysics Departments of Concepcion University in Chile.

focus on any part of the cryosphere, and can include field- or theory-based
studies, remote sensing, simulations, legal frameworks, impact and/or risk
analyses, water resource assessments and others. Please follow the
instructions on the online form to register for the conference and to
signal your preferred presentation format (oral or poster). The closing
date for abstracts is 30 April, 2020.
At this meeting we will offer practical workshops during the afternoon of
Thursday 8 October. We invite all those interested in leading a workshop
focused on methods or themes related to the cryosphere to send us your
general idea as soon as possible (sochcri@gmail.com). In addition, we will
hold a round-table conversation entitled Cryo-science, cryo-activism and
social transformation, where researchers, NGO representatives and other
interested parties will meet to discuss and design new research strategies
to more closely associate cryosphere science with societal needs. Those
interested in taking part can also register in the online form.
The registration period will be open from 1 January to 30 June with
the early bird rates of $22.000 Chilean pesos (students) and $32.000 Chilean pesos
(professionals). After 30 June, the rates will increase to $32.000
Chilean pesos (students) and $42.000 Chilean pesos (professionals).
Finally, at the end of the main conference program, on Friday 9 October
there will be a field trip to visit the Chillan Volcano. This activity
will be charged separately from the main conference, and will be $30.000
Chilean pesos for all participants. This trip will only go ahead if more
than 25 people register.

Este es un recordatorio de que la Sociedad Chilena de la Criósfera (SOCHICRI) invita a investigadores, profesionales y estudiantes de Chile y del extranjero a participar en su reunión anual 2020. Ésta se realizará en la ciudad de Concepción, entre los días 07 y 09 de octubre, y será organizada por los Departamentos de Geografía y Geofísica de la Universidad de Concepción.
Para participar como expositores, los invitamos a enviar sus resúmenes a través del formulario accesible en el siguiente url: https://forms.gle/9NLTW4kJGnDt5KM56. Sus contribuciones pueden estar enfocadas en cualquier componente de la criósfera e incluir estudios de campo, teóricos, percepción remota, simulaciones, marcos legales, impactos, riesgos, recursos hídricos asociados y otros. Por favor, seguir las instrucciones del formulario en línea para registrarse en el congreso y para señalar en el resumen si prefiere presentación oral o póster. La fecha límite para el envío de resúmenes es el 30 de abril de 2020.
En esta reunión, se ofrecerán talleres prácticos durante la tarde del día jueves 08 de octubre. Invitamos a las personas que les interese ofrecer un taller propio enfocado en temas de las criósfera, que nos envíen su idea general lo antes posible. Además, se pretende desarrollar una mesa redonda o conversatorio sobre "Criociencia, Crioactivismo y transformación social" donde científicos, representantes de ONGs y otras partes interesadas se reunirán para discutir y diseñar nuevas estrategias de investigación para llevar las ciencias de la criósfera a un mayor acercamiento con las necesidades de la población. Los interesados pueden también inscribirse en el formulario en línea.
El periodo de registro sigue abierto hasta el 30 de junio con tarifa rebajada de $22.000 pesos chilenos (estudiantes) y $32.000 pesos chilenos (profesionales). Después del 30 de junio los costos ascienden a $32.000 pesos chilenos (estudiantes) y $42.000 pesos chilenos (profesionales).
Finalmente, terminado el programa principal de la reunión, el día viernes 9 de octubre se pretende realizar una visita a terreno a la zona del volcán Chillán. Esta actividad será financiada independientemente por los asistentes al terreno ($30.000 pesos chilenos) y sólo se realizará si se existe un número superior a 25 inscritos.
