the idea for a subglacial hydrology model intercomparison has been
around for some time (e.g. discussed at IGS Chamonix 2014, AGU Fall
Meeting 2014). Recently, Basile De Fleurian and me made progress in
specifying the setup of experiments, running them on our models, and
finding a name: GHIP (glacier hydrology intercomparison project). The
setups and more on our motivations can be found on the project's
web-page http://ghip.bitbucket.org/ .
We plan to put out a call for participation in the next few months.
However, before this we want to discuss and finalise the project at
next week's EGU meeting in Vienna. We would like to invite interested
meeting participants to see us:
- on Tuesday at our Poster in the session "Modelling ice sheets and glaciers"
(Tue 19.4. 17:30-19:00, Hall X4, abstract # EGU2016-15603)
- on Thursday at our GHIP splinter meeting
(Thur 21.4. 10:30, Room 2.43)
Agenda: discuss proposed experiments, time plan, participation
details
If you are interested to participate (or otherwise) in this project,
please drop me an email. We will reply with an update after EGU. Once
ready, we will post the call for participation on CRYOLIST.
All the best,
Mauro Werder & Basile De Fleurian
