[CRYOLIST] AGU session proposals due Apr 20th

Dear Cryolist,

The deadline for AGU Fall Meeting session proposals is this coming Wednesday, April 20th, 11:59 pm EDT.

You can view the sessions proposed thus far here: https://agu.confex.com/agu/fm16/preliminaryview.cgi/Program1175.  Please consider submitting a session proposal if the themes behind your science are not adequately represented.

Also, note the recent guidance from the Cryosphere Focus Group Executive Committee regarding changes to the session proposal process this year.  This guidance is copied below.

Thanks for your contributions to a successful AGU Fall Meeting,

Tim Bartholomaus and Adam Winstral

=====================================================

Dear Cryosphere Focus Group,

AGU is now accepting session proposals for the 2016 Fall Meeting.  Session submissions close on 20 April 2016. Due to the large number of session proposals we received last year for Cryosphere, the Cryosphere Focus Group Executive Committee has recommended the following changes to ensure we receive a diverse set of sessions.
  1. Individuals should be the primary convener on no more than one session.
  2. We encourage submissions across the full spectrum of permafrost, sea ice, seasonal snow, and land ice research that our Cryosphere Focus Group represents.
  3. The Program Committee will accept about 40 session proposals.  In previous years, all plausible proposals were accepted; however, this number has gotten too large.  Session proposals with too narrow a focus may be rejected, session proposals with significant overlap may be merged prior to acceptance.  Program Committee members will make their best efforts to ensure that all topics are represented within the final program of about 30 sessions.  We recommend potential conveners to consult the Fall Meeting programs of the last several years for guidance as to what may constitute an appropriately inclusive session.
  4. In formulating your session proposals and ideas, we would like to let you know that AGU as well as the Cryosphere Focus Group are considering limiting the number of invited presentations in each session. You will be receiving further information on invited presentation numbers around the time sessions are accepted.
Sincerely,
Robin E. Bell
AGU Focus Group President, Cryosphere
