[CRYOLIST] Frontiers in Geomorphometry, Special Issue in Earth Surface Dynamics

Dear Colleagues,

After an exciting and successful session on "Frontiers in Geomorphometry" at EGU2015 (http://meetingorganizer.copernicus.org/EGU2015/session/17882), we are now editing a Special Issue in Earth Surface Dynamics (http://www.earth-surface-dynamics.net/).

We have a strong core of abstracts already submitted, but there is still space for you to make it even better. If you want to take part and have a high-quality paper that would benefit from the wider readership of this special issue, please get in touch by emailing giulia.sofia@unipd.it

We encourage papers that cover new ideas in the geomorphology/geomorphometry of Earth or Planetary surfaces, spanning any or multiple fields, with the aim to link to geomorphological processes. Review articles (short or long, and including 'perspectives' pieces), orginal research (long and rapid communications) are all encouraged.

Some illustrative topics in line with those already submitted are:

- Synthetic, idealised DEMs for insight into processes and/or creating robust objective results

- Multi-temporal high-resolution DTMs for elucidating geomorphological processes

- Learning algorithms

- Application of geomorphometry for understanding glacial and periglacial processes

"Frontiers in geomorphometry"

Special Issue short summary

Elucidating the dynamics of Earth surface processes through analysis of Digital Elevation Model (DEMs), or 'geomorphometry', has become a flourishing interdisciplinary subject with applications in many disciplines (e.g., geomorphology, planetary science, archaeology, geo-biology, natural hazards, and computer science), and it is no longer just a collection of numerical techniques but a discipline on its own. This special issue in Earth Surface Dynamics aims to gather knowledge about the current technical state-of-the-art, to consolidate and disseminate established advances across disciplines, and to identify key future challenges and opportunities. It includes papers which both highlight and push the current frontiers in geomorphometry.
