Dear colleagues,
We cordially invite you to submit an abstract to our AGU session which focuses on the use and synthesis of airborne and satellite data for sea ice studies.

C034: Monitoring Changes in Sea Ice Using Airborne and Satellite Remote Sensing
Invited speakers:
Stephen Yan (University of Kansas, CReSIS)
Linette Boisvert (NASA)
Mark Tschudi (University of Colorado)
Session Description:
Recent airborne missions, such as NASA's Operation IceBridge and ESA's CryoVEx, have improved our understanding of changes in the Arctic and Antarctic sea ice covers. These observations, combined with ground measurements and satellite data, provide a long-term record of change in sea ice and its response to climate forcing, and have become particularly important in light of rapidly changing cryospheric conditions by enabling an improved understanding of the processes governing change. The combined analyses of these data provide new opportunities for determining sea ice properties and measurement uncertainties from a wide variety of sources. We invite submissions that employ satellite, airborne, and in situ observations to increase the utility of remote collected data in modeling and analyzing Arctic and Antarctic sea ice, and which seek to improve predictive capabilities of sea ice cover variability.
