[CRYOLIST] Invitation for papers about photogrammetry in permafrost and glacial studies

Dear Colleagues,

Photogrammetry has been known for decades, but has only recently become a routine technique for DEM and orthophoto creation and detecting changes in cryospheric research. Modern drones and software allow for researchers to carry out a fast and cost-effective mapping of ice transformations, both on the surface and underground, with the corresponding spatial and temporal resolution, even in remote areas. The aims of this Issue are to show the recent advances in photogrammetry applications, share lifehacks and peculiarities when dealing with glaciated or permafrost-affected areas, present examples from different regions and push the bar to introduce this approach to the wider cryospheric community.

Possible topics are:

  • Monitoring glacier movement and volume changes;
  • Estimation of snow accumulation and ablation on the glaciers;
  • Measurements of surface subsidence and dead ice degradation;
  • Mapping of permafrost and glacier-related landscape features;
  • Rock glacier dynamics;
  • Infrastructure monitoring;
  • Equipment and software for photogrammetry.
