Dear colleagues,
We are pleased to announce the 2nd "Machine Learning in Glaciology" training workshop at Finse Research Station, Norway, April 16-21, 2023.
This training workshop is designed to connect researchers at all career stages who are interested in the intersection of glaciology and machine learning. This training course is targeted towards people who already have experience working with at least one programming language, preferably Python, and want to increase their skills in machine learning related to glaciology. The training course will include ca. one day of lectures on machine learning, applications to glaciology and scientific computing, and the remaining four days will be spent on a specific project. Participants can choose to work on one of two pre-defined projects, "Modelling glacier mass balance with machine learning", or "Glacier mapping from satellite data using Deep Learning and Random Forests", or possibly design their own project based on their own data and ideas in collaboration with the instructors in a "hackathon-type" fashion.
Costs for registration, housing and all meals at Finse Research Station will be approx. 7000 Norwegian Krones (~700 US$).
The number of participants is limited to approximately 25 due to the housing limitations at the Finse Research Center. To apply, please fill out this form (deadline January 9th, 2023): https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSeFPpADZpmVA0lA4UYs7y8ayQV1PuN6JoWUJBguA7qVk0bpSg/viewform
