Dear Cryolist members,
the Ice Sheet System Model team at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory (Pasadena, CA, US)
(http://issm.jpl.nasa.gov) is looking to fill a NASA NPP Post-Doc position, to carry out higher-order ice flow
reconstructions of the West Antarctic Ice Sheet, over the last 1500 years. The goal is to reproduce the
grounding line retreat of the Pine Island and Thwaites glaciers, using the MITgcm ocean circulation model
to reproduce sub-ice shelf forcings through time, the Ivins and James [1999] Post-Glacial Rebound model, and
the Ice Sheet System Model. The overall goal is to better constrain hindcast models of WAIS ice flow, in order to improve
forecast models and reduce current sea level rise estimates.
More details on the position can be found at: https://www3.orau.gov/NASA_Catalog/Opportunity/18656
The NPP Post-Doc call deadlines are November 1st, March 1st and June 1st each year.
We invite people interested in the position to contact us and discuss the specifics of the
position in detail. We would also encourage anyone interested, to come and visit JPL and
discuss with the team of scientists involved in this line of research.
Best regards,
Eric L.
