[CRYOLIST] Arctic Hydrology session at 2013 AAG Annual Meeting, Los Angeles, California

Please consider submitting your AAG abstract to the Arctic Hydrology in a Changing Climate session at the Association of American Geographers Annual Meeting in Los Angeles, April 9-13, 2013. To be included in the session, please register at the AAG website (http://www.aag.org/cs/annualmeeting), upload your abstract, and send your PIN number by October 24 to Asa Renneramalm (asa.rennermalm@rutgers.edu) and Vena Chu (venachu@ucla.edu). Find more details about the session below.

Title: Arctic Hydrology in a Changing Climate
Description:One of the most striking contemporary environmental changes is the warming of the Arctic region and its profound impact on the Arctic hydrological system. Impacts include thawing permafrost, altered land surface water balance fluxes, decreasing snow and sea ice cover, and increased mass loss from glaciers, ice caps, and the Greenland ice sheet. In addition, new records are being continually being set, such as the 2012 September minimum sea ice area and the 2012 July Greenland ice sheet extreme melt. Improving observations and models are primary objectives in understanding these changes and projecting future impacts. We invite contributions examining trends, variability, and the importance of components of the Arctic hydrological system at multiple scales using field studies, modeling, and remote sensing analysis.
