[CRYOLIST] PhD position on drone data assimilation and swarm intelligence

Dear colleagues,

We have an opening for a 3 or 4 (with teaching) year fully funded PhD Research Fellowship on drone data assimilation and swarm intelligence at the Department of Geosciences, University of Oslo, Norway. The PhD candidate will work on using machine learning and data assimilation to estimate surface fluxes by combining measurements from a drone swarm with large eddy simulations in cold environments. For more details and to apply see:

https://www.jobbnorge.no/en/available-jobs/job/202862/phd-research-fellow-in-drone-data-assimilation-and-swarm-intelligence-in-climate-science

The position is part of the machine learning research program at the newly established dScience center (https://www.uio.no/dscience) and is run in collaboration with the Spot-On project (https://www.mn.uio.no/geo/english/research/projects/upscaling-hotspots/) and the Department of Technology Systems. Assistance with drone and sensor hardware will be provided by the newly established Drone Lab at the Department of Geosciences.

We would be happy if you could forward this to potential candidates. The application deadline is set to the 12th of April. Interested candidates are encouraged to contact Norbert Pirk (norbert.pirk@geo.uio.no) or Kristoffer Aalstad (kristoffer.aalstad@geo.uio.no) for questions.

Thanks and best regards,
