[CRYOLIST] Snow and Ice-Related Hazards, Risks, and Disasters

Dear Cryolisters

The post by Wilfried Haeberli is most interesting because it relates to the updating of an already published book, while Phil Porter proposed yesterday to edit a new book with an apparently similar title. Snow and ice studies are now so widely distributed and published that we should expect this kind of (apparent) overlap.

The website for Wilfried's book allows interested parties to download individual chapters (this is very good!). Any candidates for Phil's new book should carefully study Wilfried's chapters to see if there is any possible gap into which they can fit a new proposal. More recent information? Higher or lower level of treatment? Better use of graphics or supplementary material? Cheaper or dearer book?

It is good that things are happening in our profession!

Dear colleagues,

I just learned about the plans for a book on snow and ice hazards. You may also be interested in our Elsevier book on Snow and Ice-Related Hazards, Risks, and Disasters:

We are presently preparing an updated second edition which should become available during the second part of 2020. Right now, the external review procedure for the submitted updated chapters is well underway.
