[CRYOLIST] Two Cryosphere Sessions at AGU Fall Meeting 2012 : Remote Sensing and Sea Level Rise

Dear colleagues,

please consider submitting your contribution to one of the following sessions at the 2012 AGU Fall meeting.

Sincerely,
Marco

C007: Cryospheric Contribution to Sea Level Rise: Current Estimates and Projections

We invite submissions concerning current estimates and projections of cryospheric contribution to sea-level rise. Many members of the cryosphere community are currently focusing on determining how current and projected temperature changes around the globe translate into ice loss and and sea-level rise. Specific themes include parameterization of ice-sheet processes affecting mass loss; surface mass balance projections from regional and global models; validation and initialization of models; fieldwork activities. Contributions concerning other aspects addressing the contribution of the components of the cryosphere to sea level rise are strongly encouraged and kindly invited.

C035: Remote Sensing of the Cryosphere

Remote sensing represents an efficient tool for monitoring and mapping the cryosphere over large areas where, otherwise, it would be difficult if not impossible. This session will bring together recent advances in remote sensing of components of the cryosphere such as frozen soil, snow, sea ice, ice sheets, etc. including results from recent field experiments, development and improvement of models, evaluation/development of techniques for the retrieval of geophysical parameters, data assimilation and data fusion. Contributions regarding remote sensing of cryosphere are kindly invited and strongly encouraged.
