Dear colleagues,
We would like to draw your attention to the following AGU Fall Meeting Session on Continental Input (dust) into the Atmosphere and Ocean. This of course includes dust in ice cores. The meeting will be held from Dec 3-7 in San Francisco, USA. Note that the abstract submission deadline (August 8) is approaching quickly.
Best regards,
Stephanie Kienast, Gisela Winckler, Natalie Mahowald, Eric Wolff.

PP009: Continental Input into the Atmosphere and Ocean, Present and Past
The importance of continental input for global climate and biogeochemical cycles has become increasingly apparent. Records of continental input reveal the complex interactions between the hydrosphere, cryosphere, biosphere and crust. This session is aimed at presenting an integration of our knowledge, based on present-day studies (e.g. sediment traps), climate archives (ice cores, ocean and lake sediments) and numerical studies. Traditional as well as innovative approaches are invited, including isotopic and biomaker proxies, grain size distributions, magnetic patterns, clay mineralogy, and model simulations. The focus is on the present and the last 2 million years, but we also encourage contributions on other time scales.
