[CRYOLIST] New seminar series on sea-level changes, GIA and ice sheets starting March 9th at 11:30am EST

Dear Colleagues,

As a group under the combined auspices of the WCRP, PALSEA, SERCE and IAG sub-commission 3.4, we are starting a once-a-month virtual seminar series dealing with sea-level changes, GIA, and ice sheets. This monthly seminar series is intended to engage a broad community in advance of future workshops organized by PALSEA-SERCE and the WCRP, and to stimulate discussion and ideas for collaboration and synthesis in this multidisciplinary community.

Seminars are scheduled for the second Tuesday of each month, starting March 9th, and nominally will fall within the time window of 11:00-13:00 EST, depending on the schedule and time zones of the speakers. For our inaugural meeting on March 9th at 11:30 am EST, Bob Kopp of Rutgers University will talk about the IPCC AR6 process, including the topic "What is needed from the paleo and GIA community to help refine projections of future sea-level change?" The talk will be followed by a discussion period, and this first session will also introduce the broader goals of the series.

The future planned seminars are:

March 9: Bob Kopp and introduction (start time: 1130 EST)

April 13: Intercomparisons and Benchmarking of GIA models (Wouter van der Wal and others TBD), followed by discussion

May 11: Aimee Slangen and TBD

June 8: TBD

July 13: TBD

Seminars will be held on the second Tuesday of every month, within the following time window:

1100-1300 EST

0800-1000 West coast america

1600-1800 GMT

1700-1900 CET

Seminar attendance is open to all, and the registration link for the first seminar is https://msu.zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_II7v3x8YSW2q3frUzH9XMg. We are looking for volunteers and nominations for future speakers; please use this google form ( https://forms.gle/ZsEsx3LJDKwuZ98b6) to send your suggestions by March 12th. If you have a problem with the form, please contact Natalya Gomez (natalya.gomez@mcgill.ca).

We are maintaining a mailing list, so to make sure you receive notifications about the future seminars and related events, subscribe by sending an e-mail (with a blank subject line) to listserv@lists.mcgill.ca containing the following text command:
