It is a great pleasure to announce the release of Glacier Thickness
Database (GlaThiDa) 3.0!
Based on last year's call-for-data and an extensive data harvesting
including NASA's Operation IceBridge database hosted at NSIDC, we were
able to extend GlaThiDa to more than 3.8 million point observations of
glacier ice thickness from over 5,000 surveys of more than 3,000
glaciers worldwide.
The new dataset is available from the GTN-G Data Catalogue in csv-format
and comes with readme (.pdf), data package (.json) and changelog (.md)
files: https://www.gtn-g.ch/data_catalogue_glathida/
Our sincere thanks go to the large number of data contributors and their
sponsoring agencies (as listed on the website) who have decided to share
their data with the community. Special thanks go to Johannes Fürst and
Francisco Navarro for collecting the Svalbard data and to Ethan Welty
for doing an amazing job in compiling, checking, and documenting the
entire new version!
