Dear Colleagues:
Please consider submitting an abstract on your recent work to the session described below. The 2017 annual GSA meeting will be held on Oct. 22-25 in Seattle, WA, an excellent location for discussing mountain glaciation and climate change of the past and present. Abstracts are due at 11:59 pm PDT on August 1.
We look forward to seeing you in Seattle!
T192. Mountain Glaciation and Climate Change of the Past and Present in the Western Americas
Benjamin J. Laabs, Eric M. Leonard, Mitchell Plummer
Investigations of mountain glaciation in the western Americas span a broad range of latitudes and yield valuable insights into climatic change. This session brings together studies of past and present mountain glaciation. The conveners anticipate a diverse group of presentations on topics including (or related to) the following: using high-resolution terrain models for mapping and glacier reconstructions, developing downstream sedimentary archives of glacier change, numerical modeling of paleoglaciers to infer past climate change, cosmogenic exposure dating of glacial deposits and landforms, and measurements of modern glacier change.
