[CRYOLIST] Call for data: firn density, accumulation, snow depth on sea ice, and borehole temperature observations for the SUMup dataset

Dear Colleagues,

The SUMup database contains over 2.5 million community observations of snow and firn density on ice sheets, snow accumulation on ice sheets, borehole temperatures, and snow depth on sea ice. SUMup can be accessed through the Arctic Data Center where earlier releases and updates of the database are stored (https://arcticdata.io/catalog/view/doi%3A10.18739%2FA2W950P44).

We are continuing to expand this dataset with contributions of field measurements from the community. Please contact Megan Thompson-Munson (megan.thompson-munson@colorado.edu) by 17 December 2021 if you would like to submit any of the following measurements to the 2022 SUMup dataset:
  • Snow/firn density on ice sheets
  • Annual snow accumulation on ice sheets
  • 10 m borehole temperatures on ice sheets
  • Snow depth on sea ice
If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to us via email.

Thank you,

Megan Thompson-Munson (megan.thompson-munson@colorado.edu)
Jan Lenaerts (jan.lenaerts@colorado.edu)
